Your first visit
Please plan on arriving a few minutes early to your first appointment to fill out some paperwork and verify your insurance. The first visit to the office usually takes about an hour. We will sit and chat for a few minutes to get to know one another, after which we will delve into a thorough history of your present complaint as well as any other relevant history that may be contributing to your condition. A complete physical exam to include neurological, orthopedic, and chiropractic evaluations will give us a more complete picture of your health.
We will then discuss a working diagnosis based on the findings from your history and exam, and will also discuss at this point if you are a good chiropractic candidate or not. We may need to order x-rays or other imaging to help us decide if we will continue with a trial course of care. If you are found to be a candidate for conservative chiropractic care, a treatment plan will be discussed and decided upon before being treated on the first visit.
You may be given homework to do in the form of home exercises, or nutrition and supplement recommendations. We like to follow up with our patients the same week to see how they responded to chiropractic care and to continue with the treatment plan.
If you are not found to be a chiropractic candidate, we will give recommendations on what the appropriate avenue or who the appropriate physician for your case would be. Our office works closely with your other doctors and strives to co-treat many conditions, as we have found this to be a better approach to overall patient health.
You are encouraged to ask as many questions as you may have during this first visit, and each patient is given Dr. Rae’s email address if further questions arise once you have gotten home. We look forward to seeing you soon and hope we can be a member of your health team!
