Movement Tip of the Week

Tip of the Week:
Wall Angels (Scapular Retraction)
This exercise is a great movement to incorporate into your daily routine if you suffer from:
1. Mid Back Pain
2. Shoulder Instability
3. Forward/Rounded Shoulders
4. Slumped Posture
BONUS: It is also a great warm up for any upper body workout routine!!

Watch Dr. Jose demonstrate below and follow these steps to begin your journey to a healthier and more mobile lifetsyle!

Step 1: Find a wall
Step 2: Step out roughly 2 inches from the wall with your back flat against
Step 3: Bring your shoulders and elbows to a 90 degree bend. This is your starting position.
Step 4: Bring your shoulder blades straight into the side of your body, holding for 1-2 seconds.
Step 5: Return to the starting position

Important notes: The goal is to complete this exercise with your hands and low back flat against the wall throughout the entire motion. If this is not possible, then there may be more instabilities or deficiencies in your movement chains that you want to get checked out! Remember, the best movement is proper movement! If you don’t have that, injuries will then occur!!!

Enjoy the weekend!!!
